M.I.Mission Hospital is a rural hospital in the coastal areas ( 1 km to the sea coast). It is positioned on the National Highway No. 17, between old Muziris (Kodungallur) and Palayur ( The first Church established by the Apostle St.Thomas, in the neighbourhood is the famous Sri Krishna Temple of Guruvayur situated) running between the famous Tipu Sultan Road and the sea.
Besides the rural population nearby, it caters to coastal population, it needs to attend a large number of accident victims, mostly due to the busy NH-17. The old hospital is built about 65 years ago on a 7 acres of land (initially only 3 acres), The old structure has at present about 40,500 sq.ft. built-up area. Presently now we have an additional space of 80,000 sq.ft. built –up area in a 4-storey building . The hospital is now complete.
The M.I.Mission Hospital is a one hundred bedded hospital under the management of the Archdiocese of Trichur, established 62 years back for the rural coastal people of Vadanappally – Engandiyur – Chavakkad area. Ever since the beginning, it has a non-profit making motive. Hundreds of fishermen and people below poverty line are benefitted by this medical Institution and the majority of staff nurses are nuns of the F.C. Congregation, whose service is non-stipendiary.
The M.I.Mission hospital has all specialities like General Medicine, Cardiology, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesiology, Dentistry, Dialysis and Physiotheraphy.
